Nothing Like a Break in the Weather

Sunday, March 25, 2007 by Bethany

I had great plans for today-writing, parenting, laundry, more writing, and well, making up for weeks of overtime with the day job. Instead Mother Nature stepped in with a day with summer like weather. Sun shining and light breezes the left me aching to be outside.

Trying to deter the procrastinator, the windows were opened, house cleanses, and well... I made the fatal mistake of stepping outside for just a little stroll around the block. I decided I was not going to head back to my writing table. I mean, how could I when the weather was handed to me on a silver platter?

I left myself relax. I visited family. Wandered to the park with the kid for a lazy swing on the play set and yelled after him as she cycled along on our new neighborhood's sidewalks. It was a good--if not excellent--weekend. I refuse to feel guilty about it. Even though I am dying to crawl into the sweet comforts of my bed, but am instead writing my fingers to death.

But hey, it's what we writers (and mothers) do. And I'm not going to point any fingers at Mrs. Nature. I want more of this weather calling my outside. Especially after this particularly long winter.
