Creepy Delivery Guys
Before I dive further into the why, let me tell you what happened and you can tell me if say this creep out thing is just "me."
It's Tuesday. I'm rushing around my normal morning routine--feeding baby, getting The Kiddo ready for pre-school, hustling the dog in from outside, and doing all of my normal things. So normal in fact, my son arrives at pre-school on time (not that there is a specified time to arrive, I just like to get him there by 9am). Once all is settled at "the school" I even make a routine stop at my favorite crack house--err, I mean coffee shot--and order my usual. Dial in to a conference call on the drive home (hey why not? The Peanut fell asleep... and that is a miracle in and of itself, it's only a 3 mile drive!).
We arrive home, I'm still gabbing away, and hauling the Baby Car Seat Carrier Thing That Is So Heavy I Am Getting Blisters into the house. Call ends, chaotic life of a work at home mom continues. More feedings. More conference calls. Eight hundred e-mails. Baby nap time. Another feeding--we try cereal. More rocking/patting/and hopefully sleeping. More calls. More e-mails... you get the idea.
And now it is time to pick my son up from pre-school. But what almost KILLS me as I step out into the garage--a DHL package on the garage step. INSIDE my garage.
Yes, I admit I left the garage door open. This is not a normal occurrence. In fact, it's always closed. I just happened to be pre-occupied on a call when I came lugging the baby seat in. And I forgot.
But what delivery guy leaves a package right in the middle of the step. IN THE GARAGE? What is the front door for (which, let me tell you, is right up the path a whole 3 more feet from the garage)? And since we don't normally leave the garage door open, why would you suddenly leave it there? Because I guarantee that this delivery guy has been here before--we are avid online shoppers. We have stuff delivered all the time...
Now, this rant doesn't end here. There's more. Just a few weeks ago when The Peanut was really sick. As in an unexplained fever for over a week. Crying non-stop. And then more crying. Yeah, it was bad. I put a note on the doorbell (as in OVER it) that said: "Please do not ring the doorbell. Leave packages under the bench. Thank you." There was even a directional arrow and smiley face.
The baby was sleeping. The delivery people of all varieties ring door bells here constantly. And God knows, I was gonna kill someone if the doorbell rang. It's not the doorbell itself that ruins this scenario--it's the dog's incessant barking. And THAT wakes the baby.
You can see where this is leading can't you? Well, let me spell it out. I had a delivery from who? DHL. And what did the guy do? Rang the doorbell. After say, pressing on the paper that I had taped OVER the doorbell itself.
So let me ask you--does this doorbell ringing, entering garage door delivery guy creep you out too? Because, seriously, I think he has something against me. Or he's gotta stake in my life insurance. As stepping on packages or making my heart leap out of my throat when the dog freaks out, is not something I like to do. In fact, it makes me more than a bit on edge. Don't make me catch you breaking my delivery rules! You just might not see another delivery day...
