What's happened to Myself? And where did you put her?

Saturday, December 23, 2006 by Bethany

Honestly, you'd have thunk I've lost my mind. Constant baking of not only the sugar kind (cookies, bars, pies) but that of a real meal kind (spaghetti, baked chicken, roast, salmon) and all the fixings. And I am sewing! Can you believe it? I'm fixing curtains, making another set for the bedroom. (Did you know that king size bed flat sheets can make a perfect curtain. That is if you are willing to cut down the middle and sew a hem. See? That statement alone proves my point. I have lost it.) I even tackled the sew-to-fix pile of clothes and various computer bags that I had swore I would fix over a year ago. But hey, I didn't go back on my promise.

And to even prove my point even more-- I wound at least 3 new bobbins today (come on, if i was sewing there is no need to skimp), made a dessert for tomorrows dinner, made a centerpiece for Christmas day dinner (at another location) and completed the remainder of the laundry.

If you're asking what else I am avoiding--I might as well tell you. It is another rewrite of my book. The last half. And with 2 weeks of thinking I had come up with nothing. Nadda. Not even a whiff of a clue (except that I needed to make one character stand out and above the rest--like pee your pants funny and out of this world)--but an inkling of where to begin was no where in sight. To keep my sanity I do other things.

Usually other things entail a web site. Reading a few twenty books (when I am determined I read a book a day). Chic flicks 'R Us. Or I just tackle every odd and end task I had been meaning to do since last January (hell, it's the new year soon right? Might as well get a jump start on those resolutions). This time, someone kidnapped my sanity and left someone resembling Martha Stewart. Or my mother. Or some housewifely type that has never existed.

Good news--beside the obvious house is spotless, curtains are sewn and spectacular, clothes (and Superman capes) mended, and a house full of well fed (maybe even over-fed) family is that I have a spark of an ideal. Or at least a tiny notion of what could be done to fix my book. So, where's that spatula and latest chocolate fudge recipe. I need more than a hunch?
