What does THIS writer do when she needs a break?
Why break out the chick flick and take a day off, of course!
Well almost a day off. Since I am now sitting in front of my computer writing this--and the novel. BUT--the whole break thing. Relaxing with some good ole chic flicks and writers... who could ask for a better way to call back my muse? And to make it even better, Under the Tuscan Sun is a movie about a woman WRITER who, well, needed to find her muse (surprise, surprise). Not that this story was really about the writing process--it had divorce, real estate, love, babies, and family all built in the plot--but still. AND yes, it is based off a NOVEL. Which I (shamefully) have never read yet. I just placed an order from Amazon. So, I don't feel like a complete putz.
I have one of those rules--I read the books which have movie adaptations. Except Tolkein. (I am sorry Kevin-- I tried again. Half way through the Hobbit and I had to put it down. You can put me in exile now. Really. I don't think I can try again.) Yes folks, I LOVE the movies... but can't read the books. So, Thank GOD someone made them into movies so I can keep up on all the talk. Right?
Anyway, back to what I WAS discussing. Movies. The Muse. Writing. Life. This movie just made me smile. The type of nodding inner self author knowing what another author did to get it written and made into a movie. And yes, I found it entertaining--in a jealous I-wish-I-could-just-move-to-Italy type way.
So, you could say, with some great advice (thanks Beth C and Lawmummy)--I took a day off (sorta) and I am raring to go (again). Until the next tough section--but at least I am positive now right?
