Two whole days... and nothing. No response to my formal call to e-published authors (except glowing support from one of my few readers.... thanks Bill!). Even with my meager attempt to post the call on two writing lists I am a part of. Ah, the scent of failure.

No matter. I mean, I was just looking for a little insight into the business. I put the call out there really to see if anyone would prove me wrong. But, as I suspected, unless your B I G, you don't make a whole bunch of money writing. And, really, that isn't why all of us do it right?

Onto other writing matters on hand... I am now shuffling 1 novel, 2 novellas, and a short story (thou not busy? Ha! Never!). I'm miraculously finding time to work on them all in a semi-rotating basis. Well really it is a what-book-do-I-feel-like-writing-now basis--but it is working for me. Have about 4000 words this week. Which, being that it is the first work week back since vacation and I have been so busy during my days that I have forgotten to pee, a good week for me.

Status on submitted pieces? A short story in a contest (winner announced October 1). A short story submitted to a subscription eZine (still waiting to hear back from them). And, today, I wrote a pitch for my serial fiction novel... well it is was a submission too--but I hinted HEAVILY that he could pick it up as a featured fiction piece each month. It is a nifty little start up eZine that doesn't pay-- but I believe in the cause the editor/publisher is pitching so I donated my writing (if, of course, he publishes my stuff. Check it out here: Shakespeare's Minivan.

All in all, I am not complaining--no blog readers**, hey, who cares?!?! I'm writing my fiction!

**I know you are there Suzanne, Kevin, Bill, Chip, Suz, and the rest of the lot. Really. Was just hoping to get some new blood--eerrr, data, for my informal poll. To expel all those rumors about e-publishing. Maybe it means I have to dig a little deeper into research!

Hey! I just found your blog courtesy of a post you just made at the Chick Lit Yahoo Group. I feel we have quite a bit in common...I also am a writer (I have written one novel and am halfway through my second), and was a technical writer for a software company for about 4 years--now my husband and I own/operate a B&B. So, I feel your pain about having to do dull, monotonous stuff at work when all you want to do is be creative.

Good luck with your writing! I look forward to checking out your blog on occasion in the near future.

Hey Kristin!

You found me all right... and you even visited after my blathering introduction? Wow. Thanks for being so kind to take a peek!

Yeah, tech writing is what it is... the same ole thing (even after 8+ years).

I just checked out your B&B-- how wonderful! How did you make the career switch? Was it painful? Feel free to e-mail me privately!
